More information on the Global Music Foundation

The Global Music Foundation is a non-profit organisation formed in September 2003 by professional musicians. Our aim is to share our musical knowledge, ideas and experience in an open, friendly and constructive artistic environment.

We do this through an ever-expanding series of workshops, seminars and events that provide the ideal opportunity to perform, share and learn together. The classes balance the need for formal instrumental study with group discussion and audio/video analysis. Spontaneous 'jam' sessions are encouraged and this is supported by a program of concerts throughout the course, culminating in a final concert where students and teachers perform together.

Music requires a flexible, non-judgmental approach rather than overly structured learning. The ability to play even a simple tune, with others, releases the enormous power of 'making music together'.

GMF believes that self-discovery is the most effective learning experience and the seminar/master class is the best way to encourage self-discovery. This format provides an ideal safe environment where students can progress ‘at their own pace’.
