GMF at Cork Guinness Jazz Festival and Jazz Camp 2013
Global Music Foundation are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Cork Guinness Jazz Festival 2013. As well as three headline acts featuring René Marie, Perico Sambeat and Garrison Fewell, we will also be conducting a range of workshops that will offer something for everyone from the jazz novice to the more experienced. For the GMF workshop programme, click here.
Workshops
So you've seen your heroes perform fantastic music and feel inspired to continue the music making? Great! Then head to our workshops where you can get tips and advice from the very same people that you've seen on stage.
Get into the mysteries of playing great jazz saxophone with the fantastic Perico Sambeat, one of the most important jazz musicians Spain has ever produced. Or develop your arranging skills with top guitarist/arranger David O'Rourke, founder and director of New York's renowned Jazz Standard Discovery Program. Learn how to play in a piano trio with Berklee graduate Albert Sanz, or join top call player Alex Davis for a workshop on the bass - open to all levels. Join Stephen Keogh for a workshop in rhythm - a fundamental element in music making but too often overlooked. Or why not broaden your melodic palette and discover new ways of playing jazz guitar hero Garrison Fewell?
Not to be missed are the daily Singers Corner sessions with David O'Rourke, running between 2-5.30pm on Saturday 26-Sunday 27th! All singers are encouraged to try out different song arrangements and ideas in a welcoming environment, and you never know which other festival performers that might join in...
