For musical taste, delicacy of interpretation and presentational flair, Tina May is widely acknowledged to be one of Britain’s greatest jazz singers today. Recognised by the All Music Guide as the finest female vocalist in the UK, she is a technically gifted singer who has established tremendous rapport with audiences all over the world, mixing well-known standards with quality contemporary material.
This concert celebrates the release of Tina’s new DVD with a world-class group which has gained a critical reputation for their sensitive and intelligent, yet powerful playing.
The synergy between Tina and the Trio is immediately apparent in their live performances, whether they are exploring the spaciousness of ballads or playfully twisting rhythms and harmonies to deliver scintillating re-interpretations of up-tempo jazz standards and pop tunes.
After a successful visit to China last May, Tina and the Trio are reprising their partnership for this tour. Audiences can look forward to enjoying Tina’s trademark vocal versatility interwoven with sparkling, relaxed instrumental playing.
