Larry Willis, Piano
Albert Sanz, Piano

Larry Willis is one of the truly great jazz masters; a hard swinging pianist, an artful composer and arranger, and the music director and producer for the boutique label, Mapleshade Records. His mastery can be easily seen across of a wide range of styles, and he has played or recorded with almost every great jazz musician of the modern era, including Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, and Shirley Horn.
No stranger to piano duets, Willis joins a younger master of jazz piano Albert Sanz for what will surely be one of the highlights of the festival. This set is a must for anyone wanting to hear jazz piano at its very best. Albert Sanz was born in 1978 into a musical family in Spain. In 2000 he won a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee music college in Boston, after which he moved to New York. He has worked with top US musicians such as Mark Turner, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Perico Sambeat, and has recorded 6 records as a leader (one of them live in NY with Larry Grenadier, Jeff Ballard and Chris Cheek). In 2011 Sanz recorded his own trio in New York with Al Foster on drums and Javier Colina on bass.
Tickets include a free glass of bubbly on entry to celebrate the opening show of the 9 night festival and for one night only there will be a 2-for-1 offer on all cocktails. Enjoy!
