This final concert is a performance opportunity for the students who have been attending the workshops and classes over the course of four days. They have been working hard to refine and improve their musicianship; gaining more mastery of the instrument, listening and awareness, precision, expression, communication, improvisation, composure, presentation etc.
Each ensemble will perform the pieces they have been working on with their tutors, including a large band with specially written arrangements by David O'Rourke. The vocal groups will perform a colourful mix pieces arranged by Pete Churchill, René Marie and Guillermo Rozenthuler.
The evening finishes up in true party style with an energetic and exciting carnival performance by the Samba Group led by Francesco Petreni, during which they will dance, sing and play Samba, Afoxe, Maracatu, Samba Reggae and Funk rhythms from different areas of Brazil. Everyone is welcome to join in if the mood takes them. And believe us, it will!
