Global Music Foundation is proud to present one of the greatest jazz alto saxophone players in the history of the music. McPherson was a member of the Mingus band for over 12 years all through the 60's when it was at its height and is a featured soloist of many of the classic recordings of that era.
During the 90's he was featured in the sound track for the Clint Eastwood movie about the life of Charlie Parker "Bird". A great deal of the sound track is in fact McPherson and not Parker and it’s impossible to tell them apart. More recent large-scale projects have been collaborations with the Lincoln Centre Orchestra in New York and Blue Note's star pianist Bill Charlap.
Don't miss a rare and golden opportunity to hear one of the last genuine, authentic jazz legends playing his own compositions and arrangements, in the ideal, intimate setting of the Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho. Charles appears with his now regular quartet; Barry Green on piano and Jeremy Brown on bass, the quartet is completed by Stephen Keogh on drums. These three nights are final dates of the quartet's 2012 Autumn European tour.
Showtimes are 830pm, doors open at 630pm
