Global Music Foundation and Cegin Productions are proud to present one of the greatest jazz alto saxohone players in the history of the music. Charles was a member of the Mingus band for over 12 years all through the 60's when it was at its height and is a featured soloist of many of the classic recordings of that era.
During the 90's he was featured in the sound track for the Clint Eastwood movie about the life of Charlie Parker "Bird". A great deal of the sound track is in fact McPherson and not Parker and it's impossible to tell them apart. More recent large scale projects have been collaborations with the Lincoln Centre Orchestra in New York and Blue Note's star pianist Bill Charlap. This quartet headlined at the 2010 Cork Jazz Festival and the concert was reviewed as the highlight of the festival. Don't miss this rare and golden opportunity to hear one of the last genuine, authentic jazz virtuoso's playing his own music in the perfect, intimate setting of the PizzaExpress Jazz Club Soho.
Charles is joined once again by Barry Green on piano, the Jeremy Brown on bass, and the quartet is completed by drummer Stephen Keogh.
