- Charles McPherson, Saxophone
One of the greatest jazz alto saxohone players in the history of the music. Charles was a member of the Mingus band for over 12 years all through the 60's when it was at its height and is a featured soloist of many of the classic recordings of that era. During the 90's he was featured in the sound track for the Clint Eastwood movie about the life of Charlie Parker "BIRD". A great deal of the sound track is in fact McPherson and not Parker and its impossible to tell them apart. More recent large scale projects have been colaborations with the Lincoln Centre Orchestra in New york and Blue Note's star pianist Bill Charlap. Charles is joined for this engagement by rising star Barry Green on piano, the Jeremy Brown on bass, and the quartet is completed by one of Europe's top drummers Stephen Keogh. Don't miss this rare and golden opportunity to hear one of the last genuine, authentic jazz virtuoso's playing his own music in the perfect, theatre setting of the Everyman Palace.
